#A2Z- The Ciselure Shop (fiction)

The chimes on the door clanged. A portly gentleman dressed in an olive-green tweed suit just entered Vpyshit’sya, a small shop nestled within a mountain village of Dzembronya, Ukraine. Novak took a burgundy handkerchief from out of his breast pocket, and wiped the dust off his gold rimmed glasses. He breathed a sigh of relief that he arrived in one piece as the foggy weather made safety of the travelling conditions questionable.

After taking a quick glance inside, he decided to walk around the shop quietly studying the craftsmanship of the metal pieces that were on display. He displayed a keen perspicacity in recognizing quality pieces. He heard about this shop as he chatted to the barman last night. Ukraine was well known for a variety of metal and wood carvings.

He was immediately enthused by the diversity of products he found: unique jewelry that was encased by glass display boxes, brass Viking shields that hung on the walls, intricately engraved kitchen knife sets, engraved metal wall decor.

He slowly found his way to the check out desk in the back of the shop. He noticed a young lady diligently working in the back room. Sophia’s family has been in the ciselure business for five generations. Her family taught her everything they knew, and precocious Sophia became a young master in the craft. She was inspired by a few techniques from a video she watched.

She was finishing up an jewelry box for an exhibit held at the Metal Working International Trade Fair in Kiev, the capital. She was looking forward to learning new things in metallurgy and the innovative tools in metal industry.

Novak cleared his throat, “Excuse me, mam. I was told that you can create metal designs for a wide variety of things.” Sophia broke from her trance, got up from her workstation, and walked towards the man. He took out a wooden box from his bag, and set it on the table.

“Careful now, there’s a golden pocket knife I would like to engrave for my son. It’s his birthday and there is something I would like to inscribe.” He took out a note for Sophia to read:

My son, take time to sharpen your skills, your tools, your resources, and you’ll be more productive. Much love, Novak

Painting Landscapes with Bob Ross

It’s the imperfections that make something beautiful. That’s what makes it different and unique from everything else.

– Bob Ross

Last night, I enjoyed digitally painting alongside Bob Ross for the first time. His soothing voice helped quell any anxiety as he takes you away to a fantasy world of luscious landscapes. Bob also said that as you’re painting, you can create a story along the way. So, I will link up to Denise, author of Girlie on the Edge’s Blog for her Six Sentence Story word prompt.

Invigorated by the fleeting, fresh smell of pine, Mirela admired the radiance rippling across the lake during her morning stroll in the fields while munching on her croissant breakfast egg and ham sandwich.

Mirela vanquished her fear of unknown and retreated to the mountains, a dream destination, away from the noise and bustle of the city life she’s been in the thick of for decades.

The care of her sanity was treated with high priority during a tumultuous time in history, so the guidance of her heart has led her and her husband to this peaceful place.

She enjoys the quiet moments of checking out the woodland creatures scurrying away to their homes holding food tightly to their chest while hiking her way through the woods.

As she came back from her brisk walk, her husband had just finished chopping wood to add to the crackling fire on the hearth of the fireplace.

They walk into the cabin together preparing to drink a glass of delicious wine and feast on some delicious pot pie.

If I could write a letter to my body, it would say …

Dear Delicate Vessel of Mine,

You’re an absolute mystery to me
Waking up to a bold, astringent black tea
As you relish a reading from the Code of DaVinci
Skin tingling to the sight of the coral sea

Hands enable such meticulous notes
Empowering the mind within to vote
Legs traversing far and wide
In a march to express one’s pride

A dedicated immune system army
Attacking bacteria on a hellish landscape
Fever scorches the battle field journey
Host defense system seeks an escape

Despite the strength you have some days,
Help is needed to get through the maze
No need to fight imaginary hallucinations
After donning the armor of medications

Confiscate the germ
You set the terms
As it squirms
Be firm!

Appreciatively,
A Grateful Heart

#FOTD- A Fairy’s Birthday

Frantically flying throughout the yard,
Rosina, the fairy, is about to celebrate her friend’s birthday
Surprise party within the delicate petals
Rosina finished decorating the haven
Her magical dust enhancing the fragrance
Flitting from one bloom in the middle to the next
First an orange, then a yellow, and finally a magenta
Picking up all of her friends and family members last minute
Lively conversation among the giggling females
Settling on the brilliant aster residence
All of the sudden, Kara bursted onto the luscious field
blowing magical fireworks into the air
Known as the loose cannon of the bunch
Her sillage easily recognizable from her sparks!
