#OctPoWriMo6 – Periwinkle Depths

Thrashing waves
A transfixed ambledo
Lost in the vastness of midnight blue
Nautical twilight encompassing mystery
Coy shadows thrive in shades of sapphire
Tranquil hues, calming faith
Healing world

July Blue Squares – A Photo Conglomeration

We are at the end of Becky’s #JulySquares challenge! Thank you Becky for hosting it! I enjoyed scanning my environment for blue things. I’ve created a collage with a few photos from my busy month of July. Enjoy! 🙂

1. Your photographic square could be a ‘Bolt from the Blue’ – something unexpected or surprising

2. Alternatively why not, like I have today, explore ‘Into the wide blue yonder‘ – sky, sea or maybe a location that is appealingly unknown and mysterious

3. Or if you prefer keep it simple with ‘Blue‘ – whether that’s azure, cobalt, sapphire, cerulean, navy, ultramarine, indigo, or turquoise

And if you’re feeling particularly adventurous try to combine two of these, or maybe even all three!

July Blue Squares – Cognac Label

While sitting with my family members, I took note of the various types of drinks that people were drinking. My uncle likes to do things that make him feel alive such as sky diving. He also has quite an impressive wine collection. There was one in Mexico that he got called, “Scorpion Silver Mezcal” which has real scorpion in it! My uncle seems to thrive in risky situations, and has a sophisticated palate. One product description describes it as such:

Clear. Complex, fruit fudge and smoky nose. A soft, round entry leads to a smooth medium body with delicate lemon grass, dried fruit, and spice flavors. Finishes with a long, silky, sweet, and hot spicy finish. A velvet brick.

I’m not a drinker, but I am endlessly fascinated by the label design. I like this gold embossing set on top of a royal blue background. The frame reminds me of a braided rope sailors use giving an adventurous vibe. Bold and elegant fonts juxtapose next to each other. A star-shaped compass seal at the top. Tour du Monde translates out to World Tour. This blue cognac label by Kelt looked beautiful to me. The description below seems rather fitting for its $215 price tag:

Takes a leisurely 3-month cruise around the world after blending and before bottling. Extraordinarily luxurious. Lush texture and medium body. Expansive bouquet of rich fruit and floral aromas. Palate–lavish fruit, vanilla, spice, and oak. Lingering, warm finish.

Holiday Wine Cellar

From the Kelt website, the story behind this wine is equally fascinating:

The cognac, still in Limousin oak barrels, undertakes a 3-month sea voyage around the world. The combination of movement, temperature variations, air-pressure changes and the magic of the seas produce a truly unique combination of flavours and aromas as well as producing the legendary smoothness that KELT is known for.

Celebrating the Tour du Monde and the magic of the oceans, our packaging has a marine theme centered around our unique bottle shape, based on a French navy decanter from 1740.

Flower of the Day -7.9.19

Cee’s #FOTD – Wild Daisies!

Red Delight – #Haibun

Red beauty loves sun
Crawls upon distressed trellis
Strives upward towards sky

I walk towards a home that gives me great comfort and rest. While waiting at the door, a beautiful red bloom catches my eye. The oak provides support for the flowers’ fragile vines that feels and clings onto the tree’s rough surface. Against the blue sky, the leaves glisten and the bark’s crevices enclose pockets of darkness. An assorted array of textured formations fit seamlessly together to form the trunk. The shadows in its valleys does not detract from the floral’s allure. The morning light is flattering to the red pigments in the petals. A miracle of life welcoming me to enjoy its presence… a soul blossoming in nature…

Blue July Squares – Sonic Stop

Becky @ The Life of B is hosting the July Blue Square Adventure! Her picture of a cat mural fascinates me.

When you are on the road for roughly 5 hours, nothing looks more inviting the an iced blue slushi with no lines! My aunt used to bring us one whenever she stopped by to visit. Anyway, I really enjoyed the undisturbed lines of perspective in this photo. 🙂

Yes, I’m Still Alive! – Blue July Squares

Enjoyed the beautiful scenery after pulling over to the shoulder of the road. Texas has long stretches of land just like this. I enjoy driving on this road early mornings.
#Blue #JulySquares

Hope you are enjoying your Saturday morning! For those of you in the U.S., hope you enjoyed Independence Day! You ever had one of those days where you wake up, and all of the sudden you wondered where did the past two months have gone? I’m sorry I’ve been out without warning! Life just took me up in a whirlwind of events & activities:

  • Family reunion – Lots of fun times reconnecting with family and enjoying delicious food
  • Brother’s car accident – Thankfully, he’s fine though initially had neck strain
  • Purging my space of clutter – Primarily having a difficult time throwing away my lecture notes and things of sentimental value
  • Master’s program classes – Fun to imagine myself as a CIO making decisions

Engrossed in some books!

Last year I participated in an enjoyable photo challenge by Becky @ The Life of B where I took pictures of pink things. I would like to do it again. Here are the rules!

The theme for July is ‘blue‘, and as always it is totally up to you how you interpret the square theme but here are my suggestions for how we might stay connected on our square adventures this month.

  4. And if you’re feeling particularly adventurous try to combine two of these, or maybe even all three!

Whatever you decide to do, please remember there is a rule if you want to part of the Square Gang and be sure your squares make into the gallery.

Your main photograph must be square!
