She felt disoriented as she noticed prolonged black spots in her vision. It didn’t make sense to her. It was a beautiful, pleasant day. The sun revealed a vibrant blue sky. The grass was imbued with deep shades of green. Brilliant red poppies scattered across the field. Birds chirped while perched on the branches of nearby oak trees.
Certainly, that was not normal! A visit to the doctor led to the diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. She wasn’t sure how long it would be before she became fully blind.
“For how can I be sure I shall see again the world on the first of May?” Her initial dismay grew into determination as her intuition and inner vision became her guiding light. She drew strength and inspiration from her friends and the many biographies she previously read of notable individuals who were blind.

Sa, here! Upon learning more about prosery on dverse, I realized it wasn’t a poem. Still, my first draft came out as a poem. So I thought I’d share. π
Vision slowly disintegrating
Black spots stealing my view
Stumbling in the dark
Anguish. Loss. Grief.
“For how can I be sure I shall see again
the world on the first of May?“
Acceptance. Adapt. Hope.
Inner guiding light
Heightened awareness
Illuminating the path ahead
