Excited about the Blogger’s Bakeoff

Good afternoon from my side of the world!

Yesterday I read several blogs, and I realized I missed out on a lot of news from around the world. I was also surprised that I didn’t miss out on the annual Blogger’s Bakeoff!

Melody (Crushed Caramel), Gary (A Dad trying to cope with the loss of his Partner and becoming a single parent), and Jeanne (A Jeanne in the Kitchen) are hosting the Festival of Love this year. What a great theme!

Melody has written several posts describing it more in detail:

The last of my grandparents passed away this year. Despite the physical distance between all of us, I’d like to bake something in their memory. I’m thinking about doing a simple cake that my mother taught me when I was a young girl. We made it quite often for parties we went to. Always a big hit!

My baking journey started when I was a very young teenager. I’ll never forget the mini muffin maker that my mother got me. Even though I’ve had my share of accidents, it made baking fun and easy! I made all sort of mini cakes: strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, vanilla, chocolate muffins. I mourned when that maker died on us. Just for kicks, I looked up what they have nowadays, and it looks somewhat promising.

Baking makes me focus. On weighing the sugar. On sieving the flour. I find it calming and rewarding because, in fairness, it is sort of magic – you start off with all this disparate stuff, such as butter and eggs, and what you end up with is so totally different. And also delicious.” – Marian Keyes

Would anyone like to join me this year? It’ll be a lot of fun!

Thank you so much, Mel! Baking holds a special place in my heart. ❤ I'm still checking out all these amazing bakes from these wonderful bloggers! On a side note, last night I had this incredible, surreal dream where I attended your wedding. There were thousands of guests outside this beautiful cathedral and lining the streets as if there was a parade celebrating your union. I gaze upon a sea of floral crowns. It seemed to be very much a Festival of Love. One of your bridesmaids was accompanying you as you look about in wonder. The funny thing is I have the faintest clue as to what you look like in real life, but my imagination definitely attributed this character as you. 🙂

Aaaah – that is so incredibly sweet Sa!! But I am sure we won’t be in a cathedral! lol – but if Jack had his way there would be thousands of guests at our wedding. I have been too scared to even think about bridesmaids. I think my sisters would want to be, because they had me be a bridesmaid for their weddings. But I do not want to have to think about bridesmaids’ dresses – what a drama that will be!!!
