Enjoying an evening stroll with mom as the crimson sun sets
Superstitious, I intentionally step over the cracks in the sidewalks
Didn’t want to tempt fate and break my mother’s back
Lively chatter and smiles spread throughout the neighborhood
Passing a yard, we stumble upon a lime tree hanging over a fence.
Delighted, mom jumps up and plucks a leaf as the branch springs back
She tears the leaf in half, rubs it between her fingers, and hands it to me
“Smell it sweetie, and you will be amazed.”
Curiously, I stared at the seemingly normal green leaves
Stunned as I bring the leaves closer to my nose to smell
Breathing in an incredibly fragrant natural perfume
Relaxing my mind. Creating lasting pleasant and revitalizing feelings
Thirsty and sweaty upon arrival to our home
We squeeze some limes and make icy limeade beverages
Cool and refreshing to the parched tongue
Citrus inspiration to the rescue of grateful souls
Wow
