Jenna, The Sunshine Artist, has tagged me for the 3.2.1. Quote Me challenge started by Rory, A Guy Called Bloke and K-9 Doodlepip!, about creativity, one of my favorite topics! From making my own greeting cards, stories, clothes, gifts, being creative is one of the most rewarding endeavors I will ever embark in my life.

I really enjoy these quotes by Pixar!
As I ponder on the quotes below, I’ve realized that creativity is very difficult to measure in the classroom. If some people claim that they aren’t blessed with it, I wonder if some people can unlock the creativity within you. š
Loved your creativity quotes š

To me the key to creativity is the ability or willingness to be unconventional in your perspective of the conventional. š

True!… but there is a statistical ‘mean’ that a majority are not all that far from. š
Maybe the ‘creatives’ are further from it than the rest of us? The ‘outliers’… At least in some respects?? š

I had a professor also named Bob who chatted about these ‘outliers’. š Some who have plenty of innovative ideas.
I recently watched a fascinating video by Sir Ken Robinson called “RSA ANIMATE: Changing Education Paradigms”. There was a section where he mentioned about how society tends to medicate the ‘creatives’. I wondered if the idiosyncrasies in these individuals make those near the mean highly uncomfortable to treat them this way?

I’d think you are right there .. it is inbuilt into human nature to want to belong – to be part of the crowd, primarily for safety. But there is conflict within us from this as we also have a need for individual identity and to stand out from the crowd. Those who stand out too much (in either direction) can make us, the majority, somewhat afraid/inadequate/resentful.

I love this and your observations about people who say that they aren’t creative. I think everyone has creativity in them in their own unique and magical way., they just have to embrace it!š ā¤ļø

Wonderful point! š I always wonder how children are easily able to be creative and it sometimes tapers off as an adult. I wonder if fear and other concerns holds many people back from embracing it.

I think it also depends on the child’s home and school environment and if it’s nourished and encouraged or discouraged as they grow up. š§ā¤ļø
